“Studies are superior to finished work” – Alfred Stevens (1823-1906)
Color studies are small sketches that explore color relationships and other aspects of the craft of painting.
Done quickly – usually in one sitting – they are a tangible record of my spontaneous reaction to the subject.
Although these studies are not brought to the same level of detail and finish as my regular paintings, they have a fresh, lively sense that I especially value.

In addition to these color studies, I finish between 1 and 4 paintings every month, and show them to my subscribers first.
